On December 14, 2012, a tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School took the lives of 20 children and 6 educators. Ten years later, the Newtown community came together for a commemorative portrait project through Dear World, giving survivors a platform to share their stories and healing journey.
Through handwritten messages and intimate portraits, young survivors reflected on resilience, remembrance, and hope. The Portrait Process created a powerful space for these young people to be heard and truly seen, transforming their personal narratives into a collective testament to human strength and community healing.
